With roots deep in the Carolinas, South85 blends country, folk, southern rock, and bluegrass to give you a listening experience that you won’t soon forget. Driven by the original songwriting of Kathy Neal and the voice of Tracy Wyatt, South85 is in a classification all their own – radio worthy songs along with an atmosphere of a back-porch jam.  The marked “cowgirl” attitude and lifestyle exemplified by both Tracy and Kathy is interwoven throughout songs of independence, celebration of the south, hope, and plain old fun. South85’s sound is influenced by southern rock legends like Marshall Tucker Band, the Black Crowes, cross-genre Americana artists Old Crowe Medicine Show, Gillian Welch, and the sweet southern classics such as Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. Bill Noonan and the barbed wires

The band lineup has really just come together since the first of this year, with Lee Sharpe (Leebo) coming on board on drums, and Country Bill (Walpole) back in the mix. Chris Peace is doing a great job on guitar and harmony vocals, and there is nobody more solid than JoeW (Williams) on bass. It’s a great bunch of guys, and everybody really loves to play, so we’re excited about the possibilities…so many tunes, so little time. Leebo and Joe have been playing around town forever, but our musical circles did not overlap until fairly recently. Chris was one of my guitar students back in the 80s, he played in Sugarsmack in the 90s, but then left music for quite a few years…we reconnected about the time my last CD came out 2 years ago. Country Bill has been one of my very best compadres for many years…he played with Lenny Federal and the Federal Bureau of Rock and Roll back in the day, and we had an act for a while in the early 00s called Country and Western Bill…we hadn’t done much together over the past couple years, so it’s great to have him back on board in the Barbed Wires.

The Traffic Jam Band was voted “#1 Blues Band” by the readers of Foothills Spotlight Magazine in 2011.  Our fans tell us we have the Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Gov’t Mule kind of vibe going on.  And we are known for having special guests onstage to add to our already full sound. This band is unique for the area and they always deliver a high energy perfomance….!

Charlotte garage surf band The Monterreys break the mold. The Monterreys’ music may be based in surf rock, but the band breaks out of the garage with its infusion of Latin, sci-fi and lounge. The band might just be hitting its first anniversary in existence, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have the skills to entertain. In 2012 the Blue Dogs, after 25 years of playing shows and releasing 9 CD’s and 2 DVD’s, continue to perform up to 100 shows a year, from clubs, festivals, and colleges to corporate events, private parties, and fundraisers—primarily in the southeast but still traveling wherever they are called, over the past few years to New York, DC and Virginia, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and of course Georgia and the Carolinas. Kayla Goller and Abbey Elmore are two of our local lady musicians.  Both have a very unique styles and wide range of songs to keep you entertained for hrs. Each will do a set to get you ready for the main show.

If it ends with “FEST”, these guys have played there. California to Maine, Florida to Oregon and everywhere between.  In 2011 they took Bele Chere in Asheville by the hand and lead them into the bands new wave Rock, Americana, Psychedelic rendition. North Carolina’s Onward, Soldiers are the product of fortunate coincidence. Sean Thomas Gerard relocated to Carolina’s coast, haphazardly landing his self-recorded demo in the hands of drummer, and co-founder of Winoca Records, Kevin Rhodes. They teamed up with several local musicians, lead guitarist, Lincoln Morris and bassist, Jarett Dorman. Onward, Soldiers were in Memphis earlier this year and taped an episode of Sun Studio Sessions. Season 3 of 13 new full half hour shows will air on select PBS affiliate and public television stations in January, then rolls out across U.S. the rest of the year.  Actress Sophia Bush named Onward, Soldiers one of her favorite bands which led to a feature in One Tree Hill (Warner Brothers) with their first single ‘Let the Time Roll By’, 2011. OPENING ACTS TBA

El Caniquero will start off the show, and is a film about a one eyed sharp shooting marble player. Jose is faced with a tough decision, after shooting out his sisters tooth by mistake. He must decide whether to play the game he loves one more time, to help his friends.

Dulce Vida will be the second film to show. Far from home in Lake Norman, Marcel, an eccentric but talented baker must come to grips with his two co-workers decision to now offer donuts in their high-end Patisserie. Marcel further complicates matters by insisting his best friends and dog, Tata, come to work with him while missing his family back home.

The Lot will show last, and was funded by a grant from the South Carolina film commission. It is a short film about Sam, a out of touch used car salesman. Sam has good intentions as a businessman. We notice this right away as he gives his only employee, Ernie, a free lesson on how to do business. But he has failed to stay in touch with how consumers shop for cars these days. This is evident with his latest customers, a married couple (Alex and Kimberly). Failing to notice right away that the wife is heading the deal, Sam tries to catch up to her way of doing business the entire film.

All of these films were shot in Gaffney, and would not have been possible without the support of local businesses and individuals. The Capri Theatre, Daddy’s Joe’s, Dee Tee’s, Mechanical Services, Mike’s Bike Shop, Pieces from the Past, La Vaquerita, The Cherokee Chronicle, The City of Gaffney, and Limestone College have been tremendous supporters of film in Cherokee County, and their involvement is greatly appreciated. Support like this, makes films on this level possible.

These guys have been opening for Avett Bros, Mumford, Old Crow and many more.  Since its inception by Drew Carman and Dylan Solise in early 2006, The Corduroy Road has melded bluegrass, Americana, folk rock, and old-time country with the rawest of live performances. The two, born and raised in the Central Kentucky Bluegrass Region where they learned their craft, now reside in the musical gem of the southeast: Athens, GA.

With the addition of John Cable on drums, Elijah NeeSmith on bass, and Cameron Thomas on electric guitar, The Corduroy Road quickly gained a reputation in Athens as an up and coming band on the scene after sharing the stage with such notable bands including The Avett Brothers, Paleface, The Packway Handle Band, Ian Thomas, Langhorne Slim, Trampled by Turtles and more.

Opening acts will be Kentucky’s own Drew Boyd backed by Will Moore, Jaron Ferrer and Cody Carpenter. Next up will be Gaffney’s Lee Cutchin “Fat guy with Lil’guitar”,  then to lead you into the main show will be Drew Spencer with “Midnight Fire”.
