Canceled April 2nd, The Fustics,Date to be Rescheduled
Posted on Feb.02, 2010
With members originally hailing from all over the United States, this North Carolina-based band draws from diverse backgrounds and experiences to create a sound that is truly American. Singer / songwriter Brad Heller brings his southwestern roots to the forefront with politically and socially-charged songs about life, love, injustice, and the state-of-things. Calloway Ritch’s gritty and bluesy guitar work adds a distinct texture and sophisticated humbleness. Add the dynamic rhythm section of Paul Castagno and Ron Pifer to the mix, and you have a sound that is as indefinable as it is intriguing. With the release of their new record, “Beyond This Life”, the band has reached new heights sonically with an array of musical styles interwoven throughout the album. Voted Wilmington’s “Best Original Rock Band” The Fustics continue to expand their audience with incessant regional touring.
Snow show tonight, Sweet Six Bullets and The Cold Roses will be rescheduling
Posted on Jan.28, 2010
The Cold Roses will have to reschedule do to an injured drummer taking down a vilian attempting to stop people from getting their Milk Sandwiches at the local grocery store. The Cold Roses deliver a rock and roll infused, ( * )folk-pop sound with an indie music vibe that owes as much to classic favorites like Neil Young and R.E.M. as it does to new alt-country rockers like Ryan Adams, Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket. Without straying too far from the “3 to 4 minute” pop song formula, The Cold Roses add ( ** )a melodic richness and complexity to their songs that goes beyond the self-limiting three-chord standard. The band’s songs have been described as thought provoking with a ( * )slight melancholy vibe but offer an ( ** )importance of dynamics, emotional resonance, and personal urgency! ( * , ** ) paraphrase * – Dan Armonaitis For the Herald-Journal ** – Steve Shanafelt for Spartanburg Spark.

Bands in the southeastern United States have caused a resurgence in regionalism during the past decade or so. Sweet Six Bullets, an up and coming rock sextet from the podunk town of Belton, South Carolina, feel they are up to the task of pushing the idea of regionalism to the limit. Culled from many years of living in a rural town that served as ground zero for field parties and bottles aimed directly at road signs, SSB take their big sound from the small front lines.
While other bands in upstate South Carolina may try to dodge the southern rock label, the guys behind SSB could care less. If southern rock means things get loud, dirty, and entertaining, then SSB happily fit that bill. They are southern and they play rock music. If their fans labeled their band dogshit and still listened and loved it, SSB would be happy to smear that label all over their drum kits and guitars.
